The Storm
By Ayla Smith
When in the storm the winds are strong,
Pulling me first one way, then another,
I search my soul for the strength to resist
Shelter me, my mind prays desperately
It seems I do not have the strength to fight
Yet still I push onward, pressing toward my goal
Then I stumble, and I feel strong arms lift me up
As I make my way toward shelter, searching for safety
Again I stumble, but again I am lifted up
Looking around I see angels walking alongside me
And I know I am not alone, that I never have been
Knowing this, I continue forward with the angels to shelter me
Family smiles and encourages me as I press forward,
Against the winds and obstacles of adversity
With faith as my anchor, I press forward,
As the angels remain to shield me from the worst
I finally reach my goal, firm in the faith
My Savior and Father in Heaven are waiting with open arms
Joyful tears stream down my face as I enter their embrace
And I realize it was my own faith that sheltered me
”And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ,
the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds,
yea his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you,
it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the
rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot
fall.”--Helaman 5:12
